RE: MEC Toronto's Contracting of Impact Cleaning Services

I am very disappointed that our local MEC in Toronto continues to contract Impact Cleaning Services Ltd. for its janitorial needs.

The co-operative is acting irresponsibly by hiring a company embroiled in serious labour violations against its workers.  Details are available at www.negative-impact.org/headlines/.

We cannot continue to ignore the series of legal complaints brought against the company by its employees. Our co-operative has a responsibility to be a good corporate citizen and set an example.

It is incumbent upon MEC to uphold the tenets of its charter and its commitment to sustainability by fostering strong communities with good jobs. I respectfully request that MEC  do the right thing and reconsider its relationship with Impact Cleaning Services Ltd.
